Put down your fork and grab a tissue. Acclaimed Toronto restaurant Hopgood’s Foodliner just announced that they will be closing very, very soon!
Toronto foodies and fans of the Roncesvalles Village will be sad to hear that west-end favourite, Hopgood’s Foodliner, will be closing. The final last call will happen on February 6, just days after the restaurant’s 5-year anniversary.
After receiving much praise since the 2012 opening, securing spots on National “best restaurant” lists, as well as being hailed by the media, the news comes abruptly. We among many others will be sad to see Hopgood’s Foodliner go, with it the laid-back front of house team, delicious cuisine and award-winning wine list. Not to mention the Monday night Buck-a-Shuck deal.
Owner-operator Chef Geoff comments, “It’s been an honour and a privilege to be part of this amazing community over the last five years. The decision to close was not an easy one, but one I’ve made with my growing-family and future in mind.”
Geoff also added, “Over the years our amazing staff and guests have made the restaurant the destination that it is and I want to thank them all for their contributions. I hope to see them all for a few donny’s this month.”
For the time being, we can relish in the final days of Hopgood’s Foodliner. Due to popular demand, classic favourites from the original menu will be offered, along with Monday Buck-a-Shuck, for the entire month of January. The private room will also be available up until the restaurant closes on February 6.
While Chef Geoff didn’t reveal much about his next moves, he did hint to the exploring of some exciting new ventures so it seems we still have some good news to look forward to.
